Getting Started/Rules
All soap box derby competitions start at the local race level. If you live in the Omaha-metropolitan area, contact the
Omaha Area Soap Box Derby Association to register. If you live outside the Omaha-metro area, contact the All-American Soap Box Derby (AA)
regional director for your state or the National Derby Rallies (NDR)
membership director.
After registering with your local derby association, you may wish to use a corporate car or purchase a used car, if available. Check with your local association for car availability. New car kits and other racing products may be purchased via the
AA SBD Store Front.
After making your decision on the options available, you may want to seek potential sponsors to help underwrite the cost of your car and race fees. Then, pick up your corporate car or purchase your used or new car.
You should build your car well ahead of your Local Race day so you have time to practice driving. Plan to attend any construction clinics held in your area where derby officials will demonstrate the skills and techniques needed to build your car.
Have a fun building experience, and good luck!
Rules
Please view the
AASBD Rules and the
NDR Rules well in advance of all races to help ensure your car is in compliance with all rules.
Registration Forms
Complete one registration form per racer per rally and bring to the registration table at the rally. Please make a copy for yourself if you want one. First-time racers must also present a photocopy of their birth certificate to include with the registration form.
